Couture & Culture Phoenix, Arizona 2015
Get ready Phoenix! International eco-fashion designer, John Ablaza, who is known for his use of sustainable local materials in his designs is bringing his Couture & Culture Fashion show to The U.S.A. for the very first time. John Ablaza is a Manila based designer with a cause whose awe-inspiring collections have already hit the runways of Hong Kong, Singapore, London, Bahrain, Sydney and Toronto.
This will be an event to remember. You won't believe that some of these high fashion couture designs are made of seeds, coconut shells, barks and twigs. Let's just say it takes "organic" to a whole new level. And you won't want to miss the surprise opening representing the Arizona lifestyle, landscape, and culture.
The official state preliminary to The Miss America Pageant
Part of the show proceeds help support Arizona's outstanding young women of The Miss Arizona Scholarship Pageant (a non-profit 501-C). Watch several of them walk the runway. Many more of the girls and their moms will be volunteering the night of the event wearing their crowns, greeting you, showing you to your seats, mingling, and working backstage!
John's Causes
John Albaza's philanthropic nature is evident by the work he has done with the Mungyan Tribe. In early 2013, John Ablaza, in partnership with the Ayala Foundation in the Philippines, started working with the Mangyan tribe in Puerto Gallera, Oriental Mindoro to provide training in dressmaking. This is part of the project’s broader objective of helping the Mangyan community gain access to basic services, and to help improve and uplift their lives.
José Rizal Traveling Museum-See it Here! Presented by Arizona Knights of Rizal
John Ablaza was nominated to create a replica of The Philippine’s national hero, Dr. José Rizal’s wardrobe in time for the Centennial Celebration of Philippine independence in 1998. From then on, his Rizal collection has become prominent and traveled all over the Philippines and other parts of the world, cities across North America and Europe. In 2012, John Ablaza designed the wardrobe of Jose Rizal in the documentary film, "The First Hero,” which had its worldwide premiere in Toronto in June 2013.
