Internationally touring artist, songwriter, painter and believer in all things possible, Joe Crookston is bringing the lush sonic landscapes, slide guitar, fiddle, projected art, original paintings, harmonies, hilarious stories, transcendent moments and pure music magic of his Imagine Nation to Irvington Town Hall Theater.
In Irish culture, the “Long Note” is that place of resonance and transcendence where the music, the voices, the instruments, and the community ALL come together and unite. There IS a Long Note and Joe is courting it fiercely.
Crookston, from Ithaca, NY, was named 2016 Folk Alliance International Artist-in- Residence, and his 2008 recording Able Baker Charlie & Dog was awarded Folk Alliance's Album of the Year. He's not afraid to walk outside trends and create his own version of magic. He will surprise you and he'll awaken the cynics. His live performances are multi-media celebrations of art and possibility with looped fiddle, video, slide guitar and SONGS. His story songs — on topics ranging from Taoist parables to drunken roosters — are universal, his slide playing infectious, and on stage he's funny one moment and transcendent the next. At the end of the night, you'll leave inspired.
