Event description
Located on the second floor of the Museum, the Clive Davis Theater is an intimate, state-of-the-art 200-seat theater.

About this Event

Widely known as the godfather of music photography and the only photographer to ever receive The Recording Academy’s Trustees Award for documenting the history of music, the late Jim Marshall maintained a 50-year career that resulted in more than 500 album covers, an abundance of magazine covers, and some of the most celebrated images in blues, jazz, country, and rock and roll, including those from Johnny Cash's notable Folsom and San Quentin prison concerts. In conjunction with the opening of the GRAMMY Museum’s new exhibit The Prison Concerts: Folsom And San Quentin (Jim Marshall's Photographs Of Johnny Cash), which showcases Marshall's photos from Cash's historic prison concerts in 1968 and 1969, the GRAMMY Museum is thrilled to welcome Amelia Davis (Jim Marshall's longtime assistant and the sole beneficiary of his estate) and Scott B. Bomar (author of Johnny Cash At Folsom & San Quentin) to the Clive Davis Theater, to discuss the new exhibit and the stories behind these iconic photographs. Guests will be able to view the exhibit from 6:00-7:00pm, before the program.
