ABOUT THE ARTIST & SHOW:
Originally from New Jersey, with transformative stops in Chicago and Austin, singer-songwriter Jim Heald has covered a lot of ground in his music. He honed his guitar skills at the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago and was a two-time finalist at the Kerrville Folk Festival New Folk Competition. Jim also lived in the DC area for almost 20 years performing at area folk clubs, wineries, coffeehouses and festivals, before moving to Sarasota FL in 2017. He's released two CDs of original music.
Jim has been influenced by artists like the Beatles, Byrds, Bruce Cockburn, and Richard Thompson, and has created an evocative musical landscape mixing original songs with selected covers, stretching the boundaries of Folk and Folk Rock from jazz-inflected folk to Roots, Contemporary and Psychedelic.

A marriage of the Irish meeting halls of Dublin with the New York coffee houses of the 1960’s.
During the day, Common Grounds is a meeting hall for a wide range of community and civic groups, educational classes and conferences. At night, we become a 50 seat, intimate performance venue with a state of the art sound system for acoustic musicians, poets, comedians, and performers. Expect great music from top-name, touring and local talent, along with gourmet coffee and packaged snacks.
