Jewish Women Writers of the West Coast: A Book Launch Celebration
Date and time
Description
An evening of poetry, music, and fiction with poet-musician Alicia Jo Rabins (Portland-via-Brooklyn), novelist Rebecca Clarren (Portland, OR), and poet Lynn Melnick (Brooklyn-via-Los Angeles).
In this very special evening of Jewish women writers with roots on the West Coast, Rabins will read from her second book of poetry, Fruit Geode (Augury Books) while performing a live soundtrack, composed for the book on violin and effects pedals; Clarren will read from her debut novel, Kickdown (Sky Horse Press), about the impacts of fracking on a small Colorado town; and Melnick will read from her two acclaimed books of poetry. Reception and Q&A will follow.
The San Francisco Chronicle describes Alicia Jo Rabins' work as "a poetry page-turner, both sexy and humble," and calls Lynn Melnick's poetry "vital reading for the #MeToo movement." The Washington Post praises Rebecca Clarren's novel as an "impressive debut."
Books by readers will be available for purchase.
Doors Open at 6:30PM.
