About “Jewish Cincinnati: A Walk Through History”

ish Festival launches a premier new historic Jewish walking tour in partnership with Cincinnati Skirball Museum and Cincinnati artist, J. Miles Wolf. Building upon assets from a 2018 FOTOFOCUS exhibition created by J. Miles Wolf in partnership with Cincinnati Skirball Museum, “A Walk Through History” features current, former, and now extinct places of worship around Cincinnati’s West End and Downtown core. Each of the tour routes highlights four to six historic and currently active sites which correspond to stunning photographic images created by Wolf. For natives, this will be a walk down memory lane. For newcomers, it provides a glimpse into the past of the city we have come to call home. For all of us, this important visual history of immigrants who helped to build Cincinnati from a small river town to one of the largest and most influential cities of the nineteenth century is sure to have a lasting impact.

Two walking tour routes will be offered on Sunday, September 22nd as part of ish Festival; both will depart from the Festival venue, Washington Park, in downtown Cincinnati, OH. Tours are suitable for mature youth (participants under 16 must be accompanied by a chaperone), and adults comfortable walking the tour distances.

Extended Tour- Route A: 10:45AM - 12:15PM (2.6mi, approximately 90 minutes)
Abridged Tour- Route B: 1:15PM - 2:15PM (1.9mi, approximately 60 minutes)

Created by ish Festival in partnership with Cincinnati Skirball Museum and J. Miles Wolf. Supported by Ohio Humanities Council.

Free with registration. Limited space available.
