Description

This fun basic jewelry class is taught by one of Rhode Island’s award winning Jewelry designers – Gail Ahlers of Ahlers Designs.

In this class students will learn:

  • The rich history of Jewelers and Jewelry Manufacturing in Rhode Island
  • Terminology and definitions of Jewelry making
  • Hand tooling and basic wire wrapping techniques, to create both, a pair of earrings, and a necklace/pendant

Earrings- Made from recycled aluminum and your choice of cultured pearls or Swarovski crystal, and Stainless Steel ear wire. Sterling Silver ear wires are available for an additional fee. You will stamp out a shape, form the metal and add a set real cultured pearls or crystals to the centers. You will use basic hand tooling and all tools and materials are included in your ticket price.

Pendant - Choosing from a selection of pewter pendants, and various semiprecious stones, you will learn the process of hand stamping on metal, basic wire wrapping and hand tool techniques. Each of the charms will then be strung on an 18” ball and chain necklace.

All proceeds will go to supporting The Empowerment Factory’s Youth Programming.
