The Art of Metalsmithing for Jewelry Design

You may be starting out for the first time, or feeling the need to move deeper into the creative world of wearable art or you just may feel the need for a brush up. There is an on-going workshop for you!

METALSMITHING 01 – Beginners Workshop. A 4-session workshop meeting 1x per week for 3 hour sessions. Class Meets: Saturdays 11A - 2P         Cost: $195     Materials fee: $25 to the instructor

The first session offers an understanding of how metals respond to heat and force with focus on soldering techniques and design concepts. Sessions 2-4: The process begins! Your own design takes form as you learn how to properly solder, saw, file, sand & polish by using your (and provided) tools at your personal studio bench. This in-depth workshop provides the basics of fabricated jewelry design as you work in sterling silver and further learn how to bezel set stones incorporated in your design.

The workshop is held in an artist studio at the largest artist colony in the United States - over 300 artists (Hunters Point Shipyard Artists). Your registration will serve as a pass allowing you entry to the secure non-public facility.

Questions ?: Feel free to email me  - or call the studio: 415.412.6997

**If you prefer to pay by check - please email me for further information**

Nature and contrasting combinations are the things that feed my imaginaton.

I have been a metalsmithing artist creating wearable art since 1983. The passion began as an avocation while living in New York City, a city of striking contrasts. As I was drawn to create using nature and metal as a medium, I discovered it to be a natural gift and have studied various metalsmithing techniques over the course of my career.

The creative process involves taking the raw materials of precious metal sheet and wire and semi-precious stones and creating works that reflect contrast; soft embracing hard, finished and polished with the raw and uncut - always in balance in the final piece.
