Celebrate Black History Month, Valentine's Day, and the 25th Anniversary Edition of the classic lesbian vampire novel The Gilda Stories by Jewelle Gomez. Prof. Ajuan Mance of Mills College joins Ms. Gomez in conversation on The Gilda Stories and Jewelle's new play "Leaving the Blues," about the great blues singer-songwriter (and lesbian) Alberta Hunter, which opens March 3 at New Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. Ms. Gomez will read from both works. Prof. Mance will also read from her new book Before Harlem, about African American literature before the Harlem Renaissance. Free admission, refreshments, and Valentine's doorprizes at 7. A book signing follows.
