Description

ABOUT THIS CONCERT

The Jerusalem Quartet deploys a strong sense of drama and a striking range of tonal color to create “an extraordinary unity of sound and purpose” (New York Times). But the individuality of each player remains a palpable presence; it’s a quality that’s ideal for the contrapuntal complexities of Maurice Ravel’s quartet, tinged with jazz inflections—and the ghost of a gamelan orchestra that also inspired Debussy.
