THE TOMS RIVER REGIONAL SCHOOL DISTRICT IS PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE...
the second annual Jersey Shore Makerfest to be held on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at the Pine Belt Arena and Toms River High School North in Toms River, NJ.
The Jersey Shore Makerfest is the state’s second major foray into a global phenomenon celebrating the maker movement and we are proud to plan and host this major event. Part science fair, part county fair, part playroom and part artist workshop, the Makerfest will be a celebration of creativity and imagination that draws a diverse group of community members including artists, builders, cooks, crafters, engineers, hobbyists, educators, performers, science club members, tinkerers, technophiles, writers and students of all ages. At the heart of the Makerfest will be a makerspace, in which attendees can experience making in a hands-on environment. The Jersey Shore Makerfest will have a focus on teaching and learning, and we are proud to have the New Jersey Department of Education support this groundbreaking event for our state.
The Jersey Shore Makerfest will run from 10AM to 5PM. Pre-registration is required for free admission. With the possibility of thousands of attendees, we are looking for businesses, institutions, and individuals interested in donating time and resources to demonstrate their support of community education and the maker movement. Sponsors will be featured in conference literature and online communications, and a variety of sponsorship levels are available. Interested parties should contact the organizers by May 1, 2016.
