Jersey City Slam invites you all to check out our poetry slam. A poetry slam is a performance poetry competition with up to eight poets battling out for a chance to represent Jersey City at the National Poetry Slam!

Semi-finals will have eight poets who have dominated the first half. The top four poets will earn a spot in Finals and chance to compete at the National Poetry Slam in Chicago. The winner gets all the bragging rights and a prize!

We have special guest feature poet performing Nina Belen Robins!

About Nina: Nina Belen Robins is a three-time national slam poet and author of the books of poems, “Supermarket Diaries” and “A Bed With My Name on It” she has been published in FreezeRay Poetry, Vanilla Sex Magazine, and Germ magazine among others. She works in the bakery department of a supermarket and lives with her husband and cats. She spent much of her life living in various institutions but has finally broken free and wants to normalize and de stigmatize mental illness as best she can.

This slam is an INVITATION slam. Only people who have been invited can compete.

The OPEN MIC is for ANYONE who wants to hit the stage before the slam.

So come by Tea NJ, grab yourself a bubble tea and enjoy yourself. Doors open at 6:30 PM and the show starts promptly at 7 PM.

If you are an early bird come by for the pre-slam poetry workshop at 6 PM.
