Event description

Description

Thomas Jefferson, one of our most brilliant and complicated Founding Fathers, fathered three girls: two white and free, one black and a slave. Catherine Kerrison, author of Jefferson's Daughters, recounts the remarkable journey of these three women and the divergent paths they forged in a newly independent America. Discover the possibilities and limitations that resulted from the American Revolution and why little difference was made in the lives of Jefferson's acknowledged daughters, while the greatest opportunity was afforded to his daughter born a slave. Lunch is included.
