Friends Who Are Going
Event description

Description

$15 in advance / $20 at the door

Join us for a night of 'rootsy, folksy, bluesy' acoustic music with three critically acclaimed songwriters! This event brings three extremely talented, extremely entertaining friends together for a very special performance at High Cotton!

Southern folk artist Jefferson Ross is a songwriter, singer, guitar slinger and painter weaving stories for the ears and the eyes. Based in The Peach State, Jefferson travels throughout the U.S. and Europe performing his original music and sharing his art. Read more at www.jeffersonross.com.

“Jefferson Ross music is flannel-warm in the chilled autumn. It is a calling to decency, to chuckling open-mindedness. It is an invitation to art and sound, to words and ideas. It is the world’s greatest dinner party, set somewhere in the dusk of a soft Georgia summer, with bootleg preacher Will D. Campbell, impressionist painter Paul Cezanne, and prophet of kindness Martin Luther King, Jr. in smiling attendance. It’s a little bluegrass-y, but it’s not bluegrass. I just like it, that’s all.” – Peter Cooper, -Nashville songwriter, journalist, and current Country Music Hall of Fame writer/editor.

Hendersonville singer/songwriter Todd Hoke donates 100% of money from his CD sales to charity. That's correct - every dime of income from his albums support a charity called Feeding America, which works across the US with hunger issues. They work with food banks and try to get food for the hungry rather than in a landfill. Hoke’s songs cover a variety of life’s joys, trials and tribulations with clever lyrics that can often stand alone as poetry. And, he's a really funny guy. On his website, he has lots of off-beat observations including this one: He has never been in a bar fight, but he has provided music for one. Read more at www.toddhoke.com.

"So, here's the thing about Todd Hoke: He's a mighty, mighty man in a guy-next-door suit. Oh sure, he stacks rocks and takes pictures with his right foot in them, but when it comes to music, he's all heartass, no smartass. Unless smartass is funnier. Then he's gonna go with smartass, no question. And that is why I love him and his huge heartass." - Denise Williams, Hillbilly Haiku Houseconcerts

Ethan Crump is a singer/songwriter from Hartwell, Georgia who writes with a depth uncanny for a twenty year old. Reviewers have often noted that while there are undeniable influences from the likes of John Prine, Guy Clark and Steve Earle, his music is clearly borne of a new generation of that folk lineage. One of the early reviews called Ethan “the real deal.” He, as well as his music, IS something real – tangibly real – that will stay with you long after the last note. www.ethancrump.com

“Ethan has a mature outlook, understands the musical troubadour traditions and both his songwriting and instrumentation are based fair and square on the backbone of folk and country music. His voice is pure and clear, without unnecessary adornments. He sounds like a young Steve Earle or Guy Clark.” – Rob Dickens, No Depression
