Description

What is it ?

Anuradha Kapur is directing a play, Jeevit YA Mrit that’s based on Rabindra Nath Tagore story titled Jeevit Ya Mrit. Being performed in Singapore on 24th May 2019, it promises an evening of slice of life drama that’ll see an extended monologue written up by Geetanjali Shree.

Who is it for ?

Rabindranath Tagore’s Jeevit-Ya-Mrit is said to be his most outstanding short story about Kadambari, a widow who came back from the dead only to die again because everyone thought she was a ghost.

Anuradha Kapur’s Hindi interpretation performed by Seema Biswas is a big hit among audiences from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds. If you are a fan of Rabindranath Tagore then this play is not to be missed.

Why should I go for it ?

The play sees Seema Biswas performs the soliloquy seeking to articulate the circumscribed worlds of widows in India even today who navigate different kinds of death all through their lives.

There are obviously more reasons like a compelling story line And, most importantly, in the performance we have tried to use everyday objects, especially the detritus that death leaves behind at the burning ghat.
