Two-Time Telly Award winner JD Lawrence, the writer, director and star of BET's The Clean Up Woman and the OFF-BROADWAY comedy CAIN & ABLE presents JURY DUTY, the hilarious new stage play starring "The King Of Dramedy" JD Lawrence, Tara Wallace from Love and Hip Hop and GossipViv from the Gossip Game and This Is 50.
Inspired by actual events, the story takes place in a local courtroom where a young man has been killed and another is fighting for his life. High School student Jamal Jones has had several run-ins with the law and is on trial for the murder of a fellow classmate and rival gang member. All the evidence points towards Jamal, including an eyewitness that places him at the scene of the crime. Can the prayers of a mother save her son from a prosecutor with the highest conviction rate in the country and a judicial system that has failed so many young black and hispanic men? Well, now you can put your detective skills to work and decide if Jamal really did it, serve JURY DUTY and deliver the verdict or just sit back and watch as it all unfolds in the soul stirring, hilarious, interactive "who done it", that will have you on the edge of your seat guessing to the very end.
JD Lawrence has written, directed and starred in over 15 nationally acclaimed touring productions. Lawrence, the King Of Dramedy, has mastered the art of improv infused with drama, comedy and music. He's perfectly blended a formula to bring you one of the funniest shows you'll ever see on Broadway.
