"The Sivan Arbel Experience" ~ Bandleader-Vocalist-Composer-Arranger

"SIVAN ARBEL" - VIDEO: "Lingus" ~ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8w7PLQ6V5c

“Sivan Arbel”, with a deep passion for music and dance, performs infectious jaw-dropping jazz with a vibrant and distinctive music. Sivan puts her personal stamp on vocals with a scatting-instrumental-like feeling and arrangements, along with distinctive music that draws on a mixture of fresh jazz, influenced by her Mediterranean/Middle-Eastern musical roots, and lots of rhythmic grooves to match her onstage dance motions; which always makes audiences dance and smile, from clubs to festivals all over the world. Wherever “Sivan” casts her vivacious and distinctive music, and along with that energetic stage performance… it’s a spirited and eclectic joy!

Sivan Arbel, a young Israeli vocalist, composer and arranger arrived at the New York City Jazz scene in November 2014 and has not looked back since.

She has begun to make her mark in the local and international jazz scenes, performing on stages across the world. Sivan most recently appeared at the Bratislava Jazz Days Festival, The Boston Jazz Festival, and The Fort Greene Jazz Festival. In 2016, she was invited to participate in the Jazz Composers Series as part of the annual Montreal Jazz Festival, and was selected to be featured in the prestigious International Music Showcase in Jerusalem.

On June 1, 2016, Sivan released her debut album "Broken Lines", which instantly received international recognition and media coverage. In his extensive review, Travis Rogers, Jr. – The Jazz Owl wrote: "’Broken Lines’ is a wonder. Sivan Arbel has captured love and longing, respect and reflection, and then set loose an emotional and lyrical watercolor that remains fresh and lively long after the album has ended. To transmit such joy—and for it to remain so long after—must be the greatest gift one can give. So it is with Sivan, she imparts joy and it remains."

Sivan also collaborated with an array of international musicians, including Brazilian pandero player Tulio Araujo, award winning pianist Guy Mintus, virtuoso band of Ichimujin (Japan) and award winning Trumpet player Rachel Therrien.

Before coming to New York, Sivan established herself as a rising talent in Israel and Dublin. As a developing singer, Sivan performed around Israel with her own Quartet, playing her arrangements to jazz and Israeli tunes. Among other milestones, she represented Israel in Venezuela (2012) as the headline performer in the Israeli Independence Day celebration and appeared as a company singer in the Pre-Eurovision Contest broadcast live on television in Israel.

In Dublin, she quickly gained a high reputation after forming The Sivan Arbel Septet and performing her own original compositions and arrangements in venues across the city. She gained publicity after being interviewed by several radio stations such as NewsTalk, and taking part in musical projects in the Dublin music scene.

In June 2014, Sivan was honored to be the sole representative of Newpark at the 24th Annual International Association of Schools of Jazz (IASJ) in South Africa which was established by Dave Leibman and founded by Walter Turkenburg. Sivan holds a BA with High Honors in Jazz Performance from the Newpark Music Centre (Dublin, Ireland) and is a graduate from the Rimon School of Music in Israel in jazz performance.
