About this event

Join us on Saturday, December 4, 2021 as we continue the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation’s Fall Concert Series with the New Orleans Jazz Vipers at the George and Joyce Wein Jazz & Heritage Center. Doors open at 7pm and the concert begins promptly at 8pm.

Tickets are $5. Seating is limited, so please register in advance. All proceeds from this concert series directly support efforts of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation, including the Music Relief Fund.

About the New Orleans Jazz Vipers:

Rhythm, swing, trumpets and trombones, and a variety of voices: The New Orleans Jazz Vipers’ unique sound comes from the absence of the drum kit, while their tenacious rhythm is driven soundly by the guitar and acoustic bass. Originating fifteen years ago in the streets of the New Orleans French Quarter, the band has since become an institution of Hot Swing music on Frenchmen Street, the jazz mecca of New Orleans. In 2001 they became the first jazz band to play at the now world-renowned Spotted Cat Music Club on Frenchmen Street. The deep-rooted lineup of the Jazz Vipers have been members of countless popular New Orleans bands such as the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Bonerama, Harry Connick Jr., The New Orleans Jazz Orchestra, and The Duke Ellington Orchestra, to name just a few. They have been featured on the HBO series Treme performing their Grammy-nominated original tune "I Hope You're Comin’ Back to New Orleans.”

The Jazz Vipers’ current lineup includes some of the city’s best traditional jazz talent, with Joe Braun (alto sax/vocals) at the helm: Craig Klein (trombone/vocals), Earl Bonie (tenor sax/clarinet), Steve Detory (piano/vocals), Molly Reeves (guitar/vocals), and Mitchell Player(bass/vocals).

About the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation:

The Jazz & Heritage Concert Series is a program of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation, the nonprofit that owns the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival presented by Shell. The foundation uses the proceeds from Jazz Fest, and other raised funds, for year-round programs in education, economic development and cultural enrichment.
