The Dr. James Still Historic Office Site and Education Center is hosting a Jazz Gala fundraising event at Nicolosi Catering in West Deptford, NJ on November 4, 2017 starting at 6:00 p.m. Our gala includes cocktails, dinner, a silent auction and fabulous entertainment.

The Dr. James Still Historic Office Site is the first African American Historic site preserved by the state of New Jersey. The Dr. James Still Historic Office Site and Education Center operates under an agreement with the NJ State as a holding of the Medford Historical Society; a 501(c ) non-profit organization.

Dr. James Still (1812-1882) is a renowned herbalist healer who was born into poverty was mostly self-educated and often referred to as the "Black Doctor of the Pines." James Still became one of the wealthiest men in Burlington County, NJ and treated anyone who needed help. The volunteers at the Dr. James Still Education Center are dedicated to teaching, restoring and preserving the legacy of Dr. James Still which includes a mission to get his historic office site restored.

Dr. James Still’s historic office located at 209 Church Road, Medford, NJ was built in 1855 and served as his office and laboratory. Although the office building is standing, it was added to the list of New Jersey’s 10 most endangered historic sites in 2016.
