Event description

Description

This course is intended for children aged 7-12 and is suitable for children who are new to tap and jazz and those who have danced before. The class is split into two halves so that children get the opportunity to experience both dance styles. For the tap section, the class include rhythm and music games, improvisation/freestyle, new technique each week and learning dances to music from the charts, from musicals and jazz classics. The jazz part of the class includes a warm up, exercises involving new technique, movement across the floor and learning dances to music from the charts and from musicals. Jazz dance is an essential part of musical theatre and along with ballet remains one of the main components of classical dance training.

FAQs

What ages are welcome in class?

This class is intended for children in 2nd-6th class.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the class?

PUBLIC TRANSPORT: The Navan Road Scout Unit is located on Kinvara Road, Navan Road, Dublin 7. Turn right after the shops on Kinvara and there is an entranceway on the bend in the road. Serviced by Dublin Bus #37, 38, 39, 70 and 122.

PARKING: There is limited parking for parents in the car park of the Scout Unit. Parking is free for students.

Do I need my own tap and jazz shoes? What should I wear to class?

Students are expected to bring their own tap shoes and jazz shoes, a basic pair costs about €30 and are available from Dance World on Parnell Street and Ranelagh. If you would like to try a few classes before investing in shoes, I recommend wearing shoes with a smooth, non-rubbery sole, similar to school shoes. Dress comfortably and bring a water bottle! Tap shoes would be priority over jazz shoes to start with.

How can I contact the organiser with any questions?

Contact dance teacher Lauren by phone at 0857727921, or by email at lauren@noisemakers.ie

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the course?

Please either bring your printed ticket on the first day of term, or have it on your phone.

Can I attend class on a drop-in basis?

Drop in places are not available for our children's classes.
