Description

JASON National Conference June 22-24, 2017

Join JASON Learning as we convene our unique community of teachers, trainers, scientists, and thought leaders for our annual National Educators’ Conference! Our three-day event features hands-on workshops, engaging presenters, and exciting field adventures. Every attendee will discover something new, valuable, and usable this year, even if you’ve attended JASON training or conferences in the past.

Our world is changing quickly, from climate to technology, and in the way we teach and learn. For educators, this translates to rapidly expanding tools and strategies, and adapting instruction. Educators need deeper understandings of core science ideas to be able to facilitate more open ended learning experiences for students. Technology to manage classrooms and to interface with students and families has shifted off the paper into digital, and even mobile. There is a growing collection of technology and tools students use to communicate ideas, present evidence, and explain understandings, from traditional powerpoint to innovative, mobile applications. Educators need opportunities to become comfortable with using these tools to be able to support and guide students. Research about how students learn best and engage in the process of science has spurred new thinking and shifts in facilitating instruction. This year’s JASON National Conference takes educators on a thoughtful journey to explore these changes, and equips them with new core science content, tools to integrate classroom technology, and strategies to embrace new pedagogies. Through a wide range of break-out sessions, field trips, networking, and rare opportunities to interact with a host of researchers and scientists. This year’s conference features:
