People with early stage Alzheimer's, another dementia or Mild Cognitive Impairment are invited to join Bay Area Older Adults and the Alzheimer's Association for a walking tour of the Japanese Friendship Garden in San Jose! Take a leisurely 1.5-mile walk at Kelley Park and the picturesque Japanese Friendship Garden of San Jose. Our tour will be led by a retired San Jose Ranger who is a garden expert and distinguished Haiku poet. He will take us on a multisensory tour of the Japanese Friendship Garden with Haiku readings as we learn about its history and the structures at the park such as the lanterns, bridges, trees, rocks and waterfalls that symbolize different aspects of Japanese culture. After the tour, we will have a picnic lunch under the trees. We hope you and join us for fresh air, culture, companionship and exercise! Wheelchairs and other mobility devices are welcome. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and booster shot are required for this event. Registration closes on Thursday, March 31 at 4:00 pm PST.

This is a free event, but space is limited and pre-screening and pre-registration is required. Registration for this program closes on the Monday before the event
