Butoh Dance Workshop
In this workshop led by Pınar Sinka, participants will have the opportunity to experience both classical Butoh through Tatsumi Hijikata’s Butoh Notation (HIJIKATA METHOD) and
contemporary improvisational Post-Butoh approaches.
The workshop offers participants a space to explore new possibilities of movement and to
develop their own unique dance language and bodily expression.
The meditative, slow, and breath-centered movements of Butoh deepen the relationship betweenmind, body, and space, providing a somatic and healing experience that enhances body awareness and inner presence.
About Butoh
Butoh is more than a dance performance; it is a path of being. Butoh is "Sincere Step", "Self-Realization" through the body of individual, direct and original dance technique.
Butoh is an avant-garde art form of theatrical dance which emerged in Japan in the late 1950s, influenced by Kabuki, Noh-theater, surrealism, German expressionism, neo-dada, French mime techniques, French and European literature. “Ankoku Butoh” means “Dance of Utter Darkness”.
Founded by Tatsumi Hijikata and Ohno Kazuo. Butoh has two styles, one is choreographic
“Butoh with Darkness” and other is “Improvisation Butoh”.
Now, Butoh is one of the major art forms as the cultural scenes not only in Europe and America but also in Asia, Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. We can find many Foreign Butoh Dancers and Choreographers in the world.
