Event Details

Join Maricel and explore the flavors and food of Japan. Learn to cook Gyoza (Japanese Pan-Fried Dumplings), Tonkatsu (breaded & fried pork cutlet), and Tempura. With each of the dishes we will explore the sauces and sides that accompany them. For dessert, Red Bean Mochi (sweet sticky rice cake with red bean filling).

Japanese foods on the outside can seem simple, but their subtle layers of flavor make for a really deep and rich culinary experience. The Japanese truly understand the art of doing more with less. We will explore those flavors and how to bring them into your kitchen. Not matter your skill level, this class is for you.

Maricel's Kitchen

Maricel's Kitchen offers catering, weekly meal plans, and cooking classes. Maricel's specialty is Asian Cuisine, but you will find she is equally versed in cuisines form around the world.

I have a passion for cooking and Asian cuisine. With over thirty years of professional food service experience I attribute my most important cooking lessons as the ones I received at a young age from my grandmother. She taught me the essence of food and what makes it so important in our lives. Growing up in the Philippines meant fresh vegetables, fresh fruits, trips to the market for meats and fish. The Philippines is the crossroads of asian cuisine and infused with flavors from all over the world and she taught me how to embrace those flavors. I love exploring new flavors and visiting old favorites and sharing those experiences with my fiends. Take a class with me and let's explore together.
