Event description

Description

Please join Japan House at the Broadway Food Hall during Urbana First Fridays as we celebrate the traditional Japanese holiday Girls' Day, or Hinamatsuri!

Broadway Food Hall will be THE place to be during Urbana's First Fridays in March! Japan House staff and Interns will be dressed in beautiful yukata or kimono to bring color and excitement to this community event.

Guests will be able to view some of our most valued kimonos, as well as learn all the intricacies of making and wearing one. Artist Ariel Loh will have several examples of her artform kanzashi, or decorative hair ornaments, on display and guests may carefully try one on for a selfie or group pic.

Everyone is welcome to try their folding skills at our free origami craft table.

Musicians Sue Alexander and Aresa Yoshida will be providing koto music to complete the festive atmosphere.

This FREE community event is not to be missed! (Broadway Food Hall will be getting in on the theme with Japanese-inspired food and drink specials!)

For more information, call Japan House at 217-244-9934 or email at japanhouse@illinois.edu
