Event description

Description

Join us for the second TIN - Technology Information Night of the year. We will start the evening with a meal, followed by three topics for the evening presentations:

Literacy with ICT K-12 Refresh & Computational Thinking Through Coding
“Did you know that Literacy with ICT (LwICT) was recently ‘refreshed’ to include Senior Years, and that a new LwICT development team has been assembled to infuse Computational Thinking Through Coding? Come hear more about the new LwICT Model, and about how coding with your students can help develop their computational thinking (CT) skills in decomposition, pattern recognition, abstraction, and algorithmic thinking.”

Cheryl Prokopanko Learning Support and Technology Unit, Manitoba Education and Training

Creatubbles - Computational Creativity
Computational Thinking is coming to Manitoba schools. Documenting learning can replicate the thinking process. Combining both enables deeper self-guided learning.

This session will involve Computational Thinking activities coupled with active use of mobile devices to document the learning process. http://Creatubbles.com will be used as a online learning tool. An App for iOS & Android are available as well as the website.

Activities suitable for elementary but can be modified for Middle and senior years students.
