January Luncheon: SunTrust: The Journey To An Iconic American Brand

What distinguishes iconic brands from the everyday, run-of-the-mill brands? Icons are instantly recognizable and shape popular culture. Few brands have cracked the code, but those that have represent something more than the products or services they sell and enjoy widespread loyalty. SunTrust Banks has embarked on the journey to build an iconic brand with a bold take on what financial institutions should provide for consumers. Holly Wasson, senior vice president of brand and marketing communications at SunTrust Banks will share how the financial institution clearly defined its purpose to guide business decisions and transformed its marketing on its journey to achieve iconic brand status.

Holly Wasson

Holly Wasson was named senior vice president of Brand and Marketing Communications at SunTrust Banks, Inc. in September 2016. She leads the company’s brand and advertising strategies, creative and message development, media planning and purpose integration within brand and demand campaigns.

Wasson has more than 20 years of experience developing successful, multi-platform marketing and communications campaigns for a wide breadth of consumer-facing brands.

Before joining SunTrust, Wasson was senior vice president of Consumer Marketing at Edelman, leading initiatives for brands including Arby’s, Cracker Barrel, Georgia Pacific, Gerber, Microsoft, Chevron, Visit Orlando and the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl.

Earlier in her career, Wasson built an internal marketing agency at Turner servicing CNN, Cartoon Network, tbs, TNT, Adult Swim, TCM, HLN and Turner Sports. Wasson also held various marketing roles at Turner Entertainment guiding campaigns for TNT and tbs.

Wasson is an Atlanta native and holds a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University of Georgia.

Parking: Maggiano's has a parking garage which is complimentary. It is located in the back of the restaurant. When you enter you will get a ticket and Maggiano's concierge will provide a voucher to you. Please note when parking in the garage you MUST use the stairs and elevators on the south side (to your right if you are in the garage looking out towards Maggiano’s) in order to access the correct exit to enter the venue. Valet parking is also available for lunch at $2 per car. Finally, there is also parking lot that is adjacent to Maggiano’s which offers paid public parking at $7(not owned by Maggiano’s).

Cancellation Policy: Due to pre-registration costs and guarantees, refunds or credits are not extended for this event. However, registrations are transferable. On the day of the event, the substitute attendee must present a copy of the registration receipt or e-mail verification to be admitted to the event.
