About this Event

Janie Barnett

Janie Barnett’s 2017 album release “You See This River” was named on the top ten list of several roots and Americana sites. Jason Valasquez of the Grelock Glass wrote: “Janie released one of the very best albums in the Americana universe certainly of 2017, and likely this decade.” Lydia Hutchinson, owner/editor of the celebrated Performing Songwriter magazine, wrote: “It’s so consistently good, one of those rare recordings you can listen to all the way through…it’s so beautiful.” Barnett has been cast to sing with megastars like Celine Dion, Linda Ronstadt, Bonnie Raitt, and Rickie Lee Jones, on countless national commercials and films, but it is her seasoned Americana artist shows, whether solo, or with her ensemble Blue Room, that has been her focus recently, doing shows from City Winery to Passim to the Birchmere. Janie is currently at work on 2 new albums, one with BlueRoom, and the other, treating the Cole Porter catalogue to an Americana twist

Buskin & Batteau

David Buskin & Robin Batteau, with their outstanding percussionist Marshal Rosenberg, have been performing their “irresistible amalgam of melodic, sensual pop, folkie grit and killer wit” (The Washington Post) to critical hosannas and standing o’s for more than thirty years. Their songs have been recorded by many great artists, including Judy Collins, Ladysmith Black Mombazo, The Oak Ridge Boys, Peter, Paul & Mary, Johnny Mathis, Tom Rush, Bette Midler, Astrud Gilberto, Anne Murray, Dixie Carter and Roberta Flack. Their Clio Award-winning jingles have been recorded by “everybody famous with a mouth.” Yet, with their mix of talent, showmanship, Everly-crisp vocal harmonies and what Stephen Holden of The New York Times calls their “by turns acerbic, funny and plaintive” music and commentary, Buskin & Batteau are consummate entertainers in their own right. “Their harmonies and wonderful presence onstage are as captivating as ever,” says Ron Olesko, host of “Traditions” on WFDU-FM. Rich Warren of Chicago’s WFMT has expressed similar sentiments: “They are something special. I think they levitated the audience. Terrific musicianship, memorable songs and just great-all-around entertainers.” They have consistently volunteered their talents and served on boards of numerous non-profits like Why Hunger, Ocean Alliance, The Hole In The Wall Camp and Stand for the Troops.
