Jan 2026 - Beginning Weaving class - on a 4 harness loom
Overview
Have you ever wanted to learn how to weave? In this 5 week class, you will go from total novice to Beginning Weaver. By the end of the class, students will know how to set up a loom, weave the cloth and ways to finish it. Basic weave structures, types of yarn, fiber properties, weaving terminology, equipment, and other related topics will be covered. The first project will be a sampler exploring basic weave structures.
The Club has several four-harness looms that students can use. There are both floor looms and table looms available. They're all from different manufacturers, and a couple of them are handmade. A big part of the class is learning how to set up the warp or “dress” a loom.
Supplies and basic tools are provided.
Class meets on Tues. evenings from 6:30 - 8:30 pm.
Dates: Jan 6, 13, 20, Feb 3 & 10, 2026
(Note: There will be no class on Jan 29 as the building will be closed for maintenance.)
Class size: minimum 3 students to run class, maximum 6 students
To ensure that my classes remain accessible to as many students as possible, one available spot will be on a sliding scale. If you have questions or for alternate registration options, you can contact me at ljgaylord42@gmail.com ~ 206-933-0759
Note: The 2025 Washington State Legislature passed Engrossed Substitute Senate Bill (ESSB) 5814, which added new business activities to the definition of retail sales. As a result, businesses will be required to begin collecting sales tax on a number of services starting Oct. 1, 2025. This includes classes which fall under the category of Live Presentations.
