Event description

Description

Swinging for Habitat presents "Jamie Davis Builds!" a concert benefiting EastBay/Silicon Valley Habitat for Humanity.

Join Jamie Davis for a holiday concert benefiting EastBay/Silicon Valley Habitat for Humanity. All net proceeds from ticket sales will go directly to Habitat for Humanity, helping to get families financially healthy and into their first house. The concert is very family oriented, and is meant to draw us closer, help each other and just feel good.

Jamie Davis holds a position amongst the pantheon of great male vocalists with a full deep baritone voice that has been paired with some of the world’s most famous talent. Davis counts Patty Austin, Tony Bennett, George Benson, the Count Basie Orchestra, Rosemary Clooney, Jimmy Cobbs, and Billy Cobham.

Davis was named the “chocolate baritone” by Sir Michael Parkinson, the BBC’s arbiter of important international Jazz, after his 2007 performance in London with the BBC’s sixty-four piece orchestra. Last year’s schedule included the Chetlenham Festival, the Jerry Lewis Telethon in Las Vegas and tours at home and abroad. Davis also performs regularly for both public and private events in United States and Europe.

During his career, Davis has traveled and performed extensively around the world as a headliner and as the lead vocalist for the Count Basie Orchestra. His full rich, deep baritone voice was tapped to narrate ‘A Time to Remember,’ a docudrama which won the Black American Independent Filmmakers Award. In 1999 in recognition of his steady accomplishments in the San Francisco area jazz scene, Davis was invited to be a part of the prestigious ‘Bay Area’s Giants of Jazz’ photograph, a event inspired by the acclaimed, historical ‘A Great Day in Harlem’ photo of 1952.

Davis’ solo CDs include It’s All About Love and two critically acclaimed second recordings in front of a big band made up of members of the Count Basie organization and some of Los Angeles’ finest instrumentalists entitled It’s A Good Thing released in 2006 and Vibe Over Perfection in 2008.
