Description

In this talk, Professor Sir Geoff Palmer will describe his journey from Jamaica to London to join his mother. She arrived in London in 1948, the year the Windrush ship arrived. He will also describe the difficulties of getting an education in the era of the racism of Enoch Powell, how he developed the science of cereal grains, his work on Scottish-Caribbean historical connections and becoming the first Black Professor in Scotland.
