Event description

Description

Last fall, the NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) kicked off a Long Term Control Plan (LTCP) for Jamaica Bay. The goal of the LTCP is to better understand the water quality impacts of combined sewer overflows* (CSOs) in Jamaica Bay and to evaluate various CSO controls.

Since the kickoff meeting the City has received an extension from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and the Jamaica Bay LTCP is now due in June 2018. Join us on October 19th for a presentation and discussion on the progress that has been made on the LTCP to date.

To review the Kick-off Presentation visit the Jamaica Bay LTCP Page on the DEP Website.

*Sometimes when there are heavy rains and the sewer system is at full capacity, a mixture of rain water and sewage, also known as combined sewer overflows (CSOs) are released into local waterways. To learn more about DEP's CSO Program visit www.nyc.gov/dep/ltcp.
