Jaki Shelton Green Poet Laureate Induction Ceremony
Event Information
Description
We look forward to welcoming you to the North Carolina State Capitol on Wed., Sept. 19 at 4:15 p.m. for the induction ceremony of Jaki Shelton Green as North Carolina’s ninth poet laureate.
This event is free and open to the public. We are currently at capacity for seating in the House Chamber but have arranged for the event to be live-streamed for guests in the nearby Senate Chamber. Everyone will have the opportunity to greet the poet laureate during the reception.
For those who are unable to travel to Raleigh you can also watch the ceremony online.
Seating begins at 3:30 p.m., and the program will start at 4:15 p.m., with a reception to follow.
Please note that the State Capitol will still be open to the public during the ceremony, so we encourage guests to give themselves plenty of time to find a parking space, go through security, and registration.
Please enter the East Portico of the Capitol. North Carolina Arts Council staff will greet you and provide directions to the ceremony.
