Jacobs Summer Design Showcase
Event Information
Description
On Friday, August 11, please join the Jacobs Institute for Design Innovation for a special mini-showcase highlighting work created in summer design courses. At this open house, you can meet student makers, explore projects from four hands-on classes, and enjoy light refreshments with our community. The showcase is free and open to the public — all are welcome!
The showcase will feature student work from:
Design Thinking: Methods, Skills, and Mindsets
See what students have created in this course, in which they gain skills for solving real-world problems with a design thinking approach. Over five modules, students have gone through the entire product development pathway, emphasizing hands-on innovative thinking and studio-style professional practice.
Interactive Device Design
Meet student makers as they demo novel smart products, which they have prototyped while gaining skills in areas from 3D fabrication and circuit board design to embedded software development and user interface programming.
Introduction to Product Development
Explore innovative product ideas from student teams. Students have spent the summer delving into the processes behind new product development, with a focus on mechanical engineering systems and an eye toward social, economic, and political implications.
User Interface Design
Check out the original interfaces student teams have created in this class, in which they have taken part in needs assessment, rapid prototyping, algorithmic implementation, and more.
