This one-hour concert features John Cage's classic Sonata & Interludes for prepared piano performed complete by pianist Adam Tendler. Tendler, based in Manhattan, has performed the work from memory in eleven states across the nation and intends to perform it in all 50 states.
Adam Tendler first made national headlines with America 88x50, a completely independent and unsponsored recital tour created and conducted out of his Hyundai and offered for free to underserved communities in all fifty states. Celebrated for his uncompromising recital programming and bold original compositions, Tendler has performed and directed classical music initiatives across the country. He serves as an announcer and contemporary music liaison for NPR and Pacifica radio stations nationwide. He is the founding director of a daily music series at Soho House New York, and is in the process of publishing an interactive memoir about coming-out and coming-of-age during the America 88x50 tour, the development of which you can follow at
About CAGE 100: Jacaranda is celebrating the centenary of John Cage with a 4-day festival at four Santa Monica venues. Cage spent his young adulthood in Santa Monica and premiered his earliest music at the Santa Monica Women's Club. CAGE 100 presents two ticketed concerts at First Presbyterian of Santa Monica and the Santa Monica Bay Women's Club, and two free concerts at the Miles Memorial Playhouse and the Annenberg Community Beach House. Directions: The Beach House is located at 415 Pacific Coast Highway, Santa Monica, CA 90402 on the west side of Pacific Coast Highway, a half mile north of the California Incline and a half mile south of Chautauqua Blvd. Plenty of public parking is available - enter off PCH at the Beach House Way traffic light. The facility is easily accessible by foot or bike from the beach bike path, although the Beach closes at sunset. There is ample bike parking at racks throughout the site - remember to bring your own lock.
Parking: For weekend Beach=Culture events May-September, there is a daily $10 parking charge at the park and pay machines available in three areas of the ACBH parking lot. For hourly and weekday fees, please check the website for details.

Please note that there is bike parking available onsite - bring a lock. Car parking is available and is generally $3/hr; rates can vary.
Plan to arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of the event; reservations are released then and late seating is not guaranteed. Although Eventbrite's automatic email encourages you to print your ticket out, at this time we only require you to give your last name at the door. If an event is at capacity, we will generally open a waitlist online and you can sign up. We will not contact you; just plan to arrive by 15 minutes prior to the event and we will assess unclaimed reservations then.
