Iyengar Yoga focuses on precise alignment and deep stretching. Flexibility and strength are improved using breathing techniques learned in the process.

Our Instructor, Val Shaffer, is an expert practitioner of Iyengar Yoga. He has been practicing for the past 30 years.


Researchers at Temple University's Gait Study Center report that Iyengar Yoga appears to improve stability and balance in women over age 65. Results of a nine week participation in an Iyengar Yoga program designed for seniors citizens showed faster stride, increased flexibility in the lower extremities, improved single-leg stance and increased confidence in walking and balance.
