Sat, April 22, 2017, 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM PDT
The manager says, “Get an agent.” The agent says, “Get an entertainment attorney.” The attorney says, “Get a manager.”
Am I getting a run-around or what?
So, how do I get a manager, an agent or an attorney so I can experience the run-around?
Come along for the ride as Ken Rotcop guides you on the harrowing path from Final Draft to Red Carpet Premieres.
Ken Rotcop an award winning writer and the creative head of four studios tells you the low-down on how-to get that script out of your computer and into the hands of someone who can buy your story.
Let me tell you a story:
An attorney in New Jersey needed a manager, an agent or an entertainment lawyer. He had collected eight years of material about one of New Jersey’s most nefarious gangsters and thought his story would make a great movie.
But he had no idea what to do with the material he collected.
Going to his local library, he did some research and discovered Ken Rotcop’s book, The Perfect Pitch. He contacted Rotcop and sent him a shoebox with the eight years of material about this gangster’s life.
Rotcop put all the articles in chronological order, wrote some additional connecting material and sent it back to the attorney who wrote it all up as a book. Rotcop was able to help the writer by introducing him to managers, agents and attorneys who got the book to Martin Scorsese and so was born HBO’s hit show “Boardwalk Empire”.
It turned out the gangster, who’s name was “Nucky" Johnson, and he were not related but “Nucky" was immortalized because of the curiosity of a New Jersey attorney.
How about you? Are you sitting on another Boardwalk Empire but don’t know how to get it to the right people?
