Event Details

It's Mark's 40th birthday! It's a surprise, and it's a fundsraiser!
In collaboration with my mother-in-law, Meta, and my sister-in-law, Debbie, we are organizing a surprise party for Mark at our house on Friday night, January 11th, 2013. Please SAVE THE DATE in your calendar. To help us keep track of who is participating, and to estimate and prepare for food and beverages please RSVP on this page. Make sure to include the total number of all people attending with you, such as spouse and children (see registration button above).
It's a surprise
Please keep this secret from Mark, as it is a surprise. SO DON'T POST THIS ON FACEBOOK OR ANY OTHER SOCIAL MEDIA. We still will have to work out the kinks on how we are going to make this a surprise. We may need some "unsuspicious" strategies and collaboration from some of you on how to keep him from coming home prior to 7 or 8 pm that Friday night, allowing us to set up the house and for everyone to gather at our house prior to his arrival. We'll decide the exact time as we get closer to January 11th.
Fundraiser - in honor and respect of Tyrone Buchheim:
Instead of bringing a gift, we invite you to join us in a fundsraiser as a collaborative effort with the Hirshberg Foundation For Pancreatic Cancer Research. On November 2012 Mark's dad, Tyrone Buchheim was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Only a few weeks later, Tyrone passed away on December 26th, 2011. Mark was deeply affected by this exprience, and by the loss of his dad. In honor and respect of his father, Mark wrote an eulogy to process the experience and to share this experience with others who are facing such a challenge with a loved one:
We can not bring back those we have lost to pancreatic cancer, but we can be part of the cure. It is our goal to raise $1,000 by January 11th, 2013. Please join us in our efforts to make a difference for newly diagnosed patients! If each person who is attending will donate at least $20 we will definitely exceed our fundsraising goal! Life is constantly changing for all of us, keeping us busy with a variety of commitments & obligations. Time seems to fleet by ever so fast, therefore making life all so more precious. Yet what creates the deepest form of meaning, depth and value are the types of friendships and relationships we nurture and cultivate as we travel the journey of our lives. Having said so, it would be our absolute pleasure to have you be part of generating and creating this experience with us for Mark.
Volunteers and contributors are welcome to help us prepare and set up the celebration for Mark's 40th birthday! I'v already reached out to some of you to help me contact friends. Also, I would love to collaborate with those of you who have access to catering / restaurant partnerships for food, birthday cake, and beverages.
Please carpool!
This will be a very large party! Those of you who know each other please carpool. Street parking is free, but we'll definitely be occupying our neighborhood.  There is a shopping area 5 minutes walking distance from our house with lot's of parking available. Use this map as a reference for you to park at:
Please stay tuned for further details!
With appreciation,
Tatjana, Debbie and Meta
