Description

Annual Fund is a term that can mean a lot of different things depending on the size of your organization, your mission, and your current fundraising infrastructure. Sure it's a revenue source, but it's also an engagement strategy, an outreach tool, and a platform to grow your base of support and strengthen your relationship with current donors. Successful Annual Funds aren't siloed activities, they are one leg of the fundraising table and integrated with year-round fundraising and communication strategies. The key to growing an Annual Fund is planning!

In this workshop we'll talk about

  • the basic building blocks of a year-round annual fund strategy (psst...the appeal letter is not the most important part)

  • prioritizing activities for your specific organizational needs (every organization doesn't need to do everything - be strategic)

  • engaging your Board in helping out (ambassadorship versus personal solicitations)

  • using messaging and story-telling to capture donor enthusiasm (sharing successes? yes! broadcasting neediness? no.)

Format:

  • Discussion and exploration of the above topics led by the instructor - 55 minutes

  • Break - 10 minutes

  • Personal time to fill out individual calendar and activity worksheets -15 minutes

  • Group problem solving - 30 minutes. (This is the best part where we all share our frustrations and hurdles and do some problem solving - and a little commiserating - together).

No matter the size and shape of your nonprofit, thoughtful planning is the key to creating an Annual Fund that raises the revenue to support your mission!

Designed for:

  • Beginners – both new fundraising professionals and those doing a bit of everything or learning out of necessity

  • Mid-level fundraising or communication staff who feel that their Annual Fund is “stuck” and want to grow it but don’t know how

**PLEASE NOTE: Foundation for MetroWest will prioritize giving tickets to nonprofit board members, staff, and/or volunteers of MetroWest serving nonprofit organizations.
