Event description

Description

Don't miss this special presentation by popular historian Leslie Goddard as she explores the beloved Frank Capra film, It's a Wonderful Life. Did you know Cary Grant was supposed to star in the movie? That the gym-floor-turned-swimming-pool was real? That the movie bombed at the box office? Even if you've seen the holiday classic 150 times, you'll have fun exploring the movie's creation including how the script evolved, how the cast was chosen, and the technical challenges that were overcome. Enjoy rare photographs taken behind-the-scenes and find out what happened to the cast. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. This program is presented in conjunction with the Elmhurst History Museum's new exhibit, Hometown Holiday: It's a Wonderful Life in Elmhurst (November 16-January 6), which will be on display the day of this program from 1-5 p.m. Admission to the exhibit is free.
