 The Lewis Lane Players present
“It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play”
by Joe Landry
Directed by Ken Coughlan
December 9, 2017 at 8pm

Take yourself back to a day before television, when radio was king and the human imagination reigned.  In the radio play genre, the troupe performs an old-style radio show before a “studio” audience. Just like in radio, actors may play multiple parts and the sound effects are created live before your eyes.

George Bailey grew up a wide-eyed dreamer.  He had grand plans to travel the world and build great things.  But one circumstance after another kept pulling him back to the small town of his childhood, Bedford Falls.  George constantly puts others before himself.  But when his self-sacrificing lifestyle causes everything around him to collapse, he finds himself standing on a bridge contemplating ending his own life.  Only the intervention of Angel Second Class Clarence Oddbody, who shows George what the world would be like if he had never been born, makes George realize just what a wonderful life he has.

"One of the best holiday shows around. This is a fresh and inventive way of reconnecting with a classic story of love and redemption." – Mary Houlihan, Chicago Sun-Times

"A well-loved tale told with style, charm and a heart so big it could burst the ribcage of the harshest Grinch." Kerry Reid, The Chicago Tribune

The Lewis Lane Players are the adult community theater wing of the Havre de Grace Drama Guild, a non-profit theater troupe affiliated with the Havre de Grace Recreation Committee, Inc.  The Guild is now in its 11th season of community theater, offering programs for every age from Kindergarten through adult.  The Lewis Lane Players produced their first play in 2011 and since that time have performed such recognizable titles as “Steel Magnolias,” “Blithe Spirit,” “Doubt” and “Lost in Yonkers.”  For more information on the Havre de Grace Drama Guild or the Lewis Lane Players, visit

Don’t miss this rollicking family oriented variety show replete with storytelling, fire-eating, juggling, music, magic, comedy, and featuring Django, the World’s Only Psychic Monkey.
