The I.Q. Solar Array: Brown Field to Green Energy
Watch us put the community in community solar! GRID Alternatives and San Miguel Power Association (SMPA), in partnership with the Colorado Energy Office, Energy Outreach Colorado, the Telluride Foundation, San Miguel County, EcoAction Partners, and E3 Insight are converting the base of an old landfill into a base for a thriving 200 kW solar array to benefit participants of SMPA's "I.Q." (Income Qualified) assistance programs.
Celebrate with sponsors, members, staff and community volunteers as they finish the "panel-raising" of a facility that will revitalize this limited-use site and provide solar power to neighbors in need.
THE OPPORTUNITY AND IMPACTS:
- Our goal is to reduce energy cost burden by half for 30-40 local qualified families.
- Meet the designers of this project.
- Learn how this former landfill is getting new life.
