Event description

Description

If you are a parent or professional seeking practical suggestions for a person with a Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), you are not alone. Despite being 5% of the population of the United States, there are virtually no services and supports for people with FASD's.

Nate Sheets is a professional with 10 years of practical experience working in family and foster homes, as well as schools and residential settings. He trains parents, therapists, teachers, and social workers all over North America, showing them that people with FASD's can absolutely make progress and improve, but to do so they need to be supported in a way that makes sense for how their brain works.

In this workshop, Nate introduces you to Cognitive Supports, a model he has developed that allows parents and professionals working with anyone to re-frame difficulties and behaviors in a different way. Nate knows that punishments and traditional responses do not work for people with FASD's, and continually trying these things only creates more stress, more challenging behaviors, and more strained relationships.

If you are looking for a positive, intensive training with a professional who has worked with hundreds of families with FASD's, please join us in Salem for this one-of-a-kind experience!

Here is what people have to say about Nate's trainings and workshops:

"Nate Sheets knows FASD well, and has a unique ability to work almost-as-a 'translator' between those who have FASD and those who do not." - Mike

"Absolutely phenomenal! Every human should participate in this education. What an absolutely wonderful resource for supporting cognitive challenges and behavior!" - Evelyn

"I had many “a-ha!” moments during the class, feeling like I suddenly could see my son’s point of view better." - Penelope

"My husband and I both left the workshop feeling like we understood our son better and were better equipped not just to prevent problems but to help our son grow in skills that will help him prevent some hardships throughout his lifetime... I began to see my son’s behavior in light of cognitive skills…" - Darcy
