Description

This learning session is in partnership with Charities Review Council on the topic of Building Organizational Strength.

The Charities Review Council’s Accountability Standards® are co-created benchmarks of nonprofit governance, finance, fundraising, and public communication. A balance of nonprofit practices, public expectations, and legal/regulatory requirements, the standards represent the shared expectations between donors and nonprofits. The Accountability Standards® create a common ground across the nonprofit sector, building a foundation of strength in our community. In this session you will get the scoop, through discussion and activities, on how to Meet Standards®.

The second part of the morning will focus on the specific Accountability Standard® for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. Because 86% of nonprofits supported by Charities Review Council were unable to meet the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Accountability Standard®, organizations voiced a need for a tool that was affordable, focused on organizational development (versus individual training), and self-administered. The Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Toolkit was designed to meet nonprofits’ needs and provide resources for completing this work. It is an affordable, organization-focused, self-administered assessment for organizations that wish to build a more effective and reflective organization from the inside out. In this session we’ll go deep into the Toolkit, exploring what you’ll learn by using it and discussing why this work is important to be a successful nonprofit.

The presenters for this session are Kris Kewitsch, Executive Director, and Abby Wellan, Nonprofit Services & Communications Manager, of Charities Review Council. The session is free and will take place at Timberlake Lodge in Grand Rapids. Networking and ample time for discussion are built into every session. You will have the opportunity to apply what you have learned to test out the tools and resources at your organization.
