This month we have a distinguished panel of information security leaders and professionals who will give their insights on careers in information security and their thoughts on the latest trends in the field. They will share their perspective as C-Level executives and as security practitioners.

Panelist Bios

Lauren Claypool
 
Lauren Claypool joined the team at Alta Associates and The Executive Women’s Forum in 2013.  There, she is responsible for the delivery of Alta Associates’ service offerings including executive search, thought leadership, and onboarding. She also facilitates Executive Women’s Forum services and offerings encompassing membership, corporate sponsorship, mentorship, leadership development, and outreach programs. Lauren also acts as a speaker and liaison for both companies at industry conferences, events, and programs throughout the year. Previous to joining Alta, Lauren worked with the Global Security Organization at ADP.  She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Westminster College, PA.

Laura Lee

Laura Lee is the Executive Vice President of Cyber Training and Assessments at Circadence Corporation.  She brings an exceptional record of leadership in the field of cyber exercises and training, previously directing the research and development at Johns Hopkins University/Applied Physics Lab (JHU/APL), prior to joining Circadence. At Johns Hopkins, Laura developed the first ever Cyber Protection Team Crew Operations Manual for US Military Forces and National Guard Teams.  In support of US CYBERCOMMAND, she led the assessment of cyber teams at large scale cyber exercises and developed team defense strategies for effective roles and techniques against Advanced Persistent Threats.  Laura’s concept of a Special Forces-like A-Team for cyber defenders has proven invaluable to both our military and commercial clients.

At Circadence, Laura shares her cyber expertise with our Artificial intelligence advisors in order to build in-game avatars to help instruct players.  She is leading our team of experienced game designers to create an immersive and engaging Cyber platform that embeds real-world cyber ranges in an Ender’s Game-like environment.  Laura applies her extensive knowledge of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Cybersecurity Framework to create a detailed metrics and analysis capability that helps players understand the ground-truth of a cyber attack and their performance strengths/weaknesses.

Laura holds a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Minnesota and a Masters of Science in Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics from the University of Notre Dame.  She also has a Juris Doctorate from George Mason University School of Law.  Laura is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and holds certifications in gamification and game development.

Teresa Macklin

Teresa Macklin is the Chief Information Security Officer and Associate Dean for Technology Infrastructure at CSU San Marcos. She has been involved in technology infrastructure operations and information security for over 20 years.  She came to CSU San Marcos from the aerospace industry to start the new campus' data center in 1992 and has been involved in all areas of Information Technology at the growing campus.  Teresa has a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science along with a Juris Doctorate.  Teresa teaches classes in Cybersecurity and is presently the Program Director for the Cybersecurity Professional Science Master’s program at CSU San Marcos.

 
Sumari Witt
 
Sumari Witt is a Director at KPMG LLP and has 13 years’ experience in IT Audit and Cybersecurity. She has experience in a number of industries, including financial services, utilities, health care and life sciences. Sumari has a bachelor’s degree in Economics, Investment Banking and Management Information Systems and holds the CISA, CISM and CISSP certifications. She currently serves as the program's director for the ISSA San Diego Chapter.
