Thursday, March 16th, 6:30pm - Lecture and a movie: Steven Rothfeld, a world-class photographer, spent several months traveling through Israel to explore the vibrant food scene. This book is a delicious compilation of stories, recipes, and stunning photographs of Israel’s food culture today. From north to south, Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, chefs and food growers have branched out from a vast array of cultural influences and traditions in Israel’s history to create fresh, contemporary fusions and flavors.
Followed by a screening of the filme: In Search of Israeli Cuisine, (2016), director: Roger M. Sherman. A film that paints a portrait of Israel and the Israeli people through local food. The feature length documentary puts a face on the culture of Israel, profiling chefs, home cooks, vintners, and cheese-makers drawn from the more than one hundred cultures that make up Israel today – Jewish, Arab, Muslim, Christian, Druze. A rich and human story of the people emerges
