Event description

Description

May is an INSANE month for black cinema here in NYC!

We have not one, but three opportunities to meet-up in May to celebrate independent black filmmakers. We'll be kicking it off at ImageNation's Raw Space in Harlem for "In The Morning" and ending the night at NY African Film Fest for "Play the Devil" on May 7th. A week later, we'll be convening at the Hatian Film Festival to screen "Ayiti Mon Amour" on May 14th.

We'll be ending this busy month with our official iSo14Below Film Club meet-up at BAM's "FilmAfrica". Like "New Voices in Black Cinema", we're at this fest every year and it never disappoints. This year, we'll be watching "Rain the Color of Blue with a Little Red In It", Niger's (not Nigeria folks) remix of Prince's "Purple Rain".

Our May meet-up is also a part of a (almost) week-long celebration of our film club coordinator, Stephanye Watts' ten year NYC anniversary. Feel free to hang out with us throughout this exciting crawl around our fair city! Get the full rundown here.
