MajiConnection, Consulate General of Japan in Honolulu, and engawa KYOTO (Dentsu Inc.) is hosting "Island Innovation Demo Day From Japan" - a showcase of Japanese startups solving "Island Problems" with innovation and creativity. This event focuses on "Island Innovation'' ideas with an emphasis on impactful technologies for travel, energy, sustainability, and mobility, in turn helping island communities solve common challenges including low adoption of technology, lack of human resources, high energy costs and environmental problems.

Through exposure to pandemic-related solutions from Japanese startups and entrepreneurs, this event will also enable local entrepreneurs and businesses to obtain a variety of perspectives for strategic application in their respective communities. It will also provide opportunities for networking and allow Hawaii-based business owners to seek potential partnerships with Japanese entrepreneurs to benefit from their technology solutions and knowledge.

DOUZO : DOUZO is an OMIYAGE Platform which connects "Shoppers" and "Travelers" around the world. Shoppers can request any Japanese/Hawaiian items they want. And Travelers will deliver them to Shoppers on the way of their trip.

nearMe : NearMe is a startup aiming to contribute to regional revitalization by providing services that match various, in-the-moment needs through their instant matching platform. Currently, we operate a “taxi ride-sharing” service, which enables instant matching of people who want to go in the same direction by taxi. Also NearMe provides a door-to-door airport shuttle service with reasonable price and optimal routing by AI, starting from Japan and planning to global expansion.

Water Design : "Biofilm” is the slimy stuff near water is called and this could exist in the bathroom, drain, inside-pipe will cause clogged pipes and/or damages. It mostly has an impact on hospitals, factories, and buildings are facing clogging pipes and cleaning issues. We solve this problem with Ultra Fine Bubble technology which is nano-sized bubbles that have a cleaning effect. 5,000 customers in Japan have been trusting our technology, UFB DUAL. It has been used by a wide range of industries across Japan, including medical, housing, factories, public-bathrooms, and hot-springs in order to save costs and provide an effective and easy cleaning solution. It’s also beneficial to the environment.
