ISHN 2017 Annual School Health Conference

The Indiana School Health Network and its lead agency, Covering Kids & Families of Indiana, strive to be on the leading edge of change and invite you to join us for the 8th Annual School Health Conference. This year we will explore educational neuroscience strategies, tele-health clinics, Indiana's opioid epidemic, health policy changes affecting school health and other initiatives impacting Indiana school health. This is an opportunity to not only learn about, but to embrace and shape change as we venture toward New Horizons in School Health.
Who Should Attend?
Each year, professionals from a wide variety of disciplines attend our conference including:
elementary to post-secondary educators
superintendents, principals and school board members
public health nurses
outreach and enrollment specialists
managed care professionals
government program associates
hospital administrators and staff
federally qualified health center and school based health center leadership
school health experts from across the nation with interest/expertise in early childhood and child health, obesity prevention, immunizations, coordinated school health and public health
Dynamic speakers, subject matter experts, exhibitors and networking opportunities will provide you with valuable information, resources, and inspiration to move your initiatives forward.
This year's day one keynote, Educational Neuroscience: Brains, Behavior & Engagement, will be presented by Dr. Lori Desautels, an author and assistant professor at both the undergraduate and graduate levels at Butler University in Indianapolis. After lunch, Dr. Joan Duwve will provide an update on Indiana's Opioid Epidemic in one of the general sessions.
Day two’s keynote is Dr. Sue Baldwin. Dr. Baldwin is an implementation leader of the Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child Model in a large urban district of 60 schools. Her work is focused on merging health and education initiatives through data driven health decisions, policy advocacy, community partnerships, higher education partnerships and evaluation.
We will offer 20 breakout sessions organized by four learning tracks:
