Description

Join us for a discussion on Steganography, Forensics, and Threat Intel by Sam Yoon of Carbon Black. Doors will open 6:30 pm, the presentation will start at 7 pm. Please arrive no earlier than 6:20 pm.

Sam will present an intro to Steganography and where and how it has been used, how I gather and leverage Threat Intelligence, and do live demonstrations of various Steganography tools and Forensic tools.

from Nation State Actors to Foreign Intelligence Officials, Steganography has been used to hide data in malware and espionage campaigns. The use of leveraging Threat Intelligence is something everyone can use for either preventing or detecting targeted and non-targeted campaigns. Having the ability and skills for conducting Forensic and IR Investigations is a critical skill set for detecting Steganography use and detecting IOCs gathered from Threat Intelligence work.

Mr. Yoon began his security career in 2005 as a Forensic Investigator and has obtained industry certifications such as CCE, CEH (v7), EnCE, GCIH, and GCFE. He has worked both on the corporate side and in Professional Services conducting numerous investigations in various industries. Being a System Engineer on the front lines, he is able to work with Security Teams in top Fortune organizations and assist with investigations. As a result, he is able to see many malware attack vectors & trends and work with researchers on piecing together the infection life cycle and attack trends.
